paradox

Quote

apparently i’m in inspiration mode today…not unlike any other day i suppose. hope you enjoy this as much as i do:

“You will notice that what we are aiming at when we fall in love is a very strange paradox. The paradox consists of the fact that, when we fall in love, we are seeking to re-find all or some of the people to whom we were attached as children. On the other hand, we ask our beloved to correct all of the wrongs that these early parents or siblings inflicted upon us. So that love contains in it the contradiction: The attempt to return to the past and the attempt to undo the past.”

discovery

Ships are launching from my chest
Some have names but most do not
If you find one, please let me know what piece I’ve lost
Heal the scars from off my back
I don’t need them anymore
You can throw them out or keep them in your mason jars
I’ve come home

experiencing space

“We know from experience that interiors have a power over us that facades can never have. This is not due to the commonly observed fact that we spend most of our time indoors; it is due instead to the fact that interiors surround us. We do not merely pass them on the street; we inhabit them. When we enter a building, we cease being merely its observer; we become its content. We never fully know a building until we enter it.”

A Philosophy of Interior Design. Stanley Abercrombie – author

I’m doing research at the moment for my drawing III summer class. I’m investigating and exploring the relationship between people and interior spaces and what draws us to them; what makes art or design jump from a 2 dimensional visual stimulant to an experience? More to come :) I am excited.
